The stunning Solway Firth

There can be few hotels in Dumfries and Galloway which offer such stunning views across the Solway Firth to Cumbria.

The Powfoot Hotel is the perfect location for a relaxing weekend break, afternoon tea, a business conference or a wedding. We are just 13 miles from Gretna Green, Dumfries and the M74/M6 motorways, so we are also ideally situated as a stopover or for people travelling to the area on business or those wishing to explore all that this part of Scotland has to offer. Find out more about golf breaks at The Powfoot Hotel.

Whatever the reason for your visit, The Powfoot Hotel offers a high standard of accommodation and award-winning food at our restaurant, The Del Amitri.

All our guest bedrooms are furnished to a very high standard and offer everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay on the beautiful Solway Coast in southern Scotland.

All rooms are en-suite and include complimentary toiletries, tea/coffee-making facilities with Freeview TV and free WiFi. Most of our 16 bedrooms overlook the sea or the adjacent Powfoot Championship Golf Course.

Weddings and functions

The three function rooms available for exclusive hire at Powfoot Hotel make the hotel perfect for conferences, weddings and other special occasions.

The Solway Lounge (The Residents' Lounge) is a bright and airy first-floor, south-facing room with panoramic sea views, especially suited to smaller parties or meetings. When not in use, we welcome residents to use this room as an additional lounge area.

The Del Amitri Restaurant, with its striking gold fireplace and picture windows, is the ideal place to host a memorable, private dining experience, seating up to 36 guests.

The Function Room is the largest of the three and can accommodate a maximum of 80 guests for a sit-down meal or 100 for a more relaxed buffet. It also has its own bar and dance floor.

The Powfoot Hotel is situated on the stunning Solway coastline which, together with the hotel’s facilities and excellent reputation for food, make it the ideal venue for weddings.

Award-winning food

Since opening in late 2007, the Del Amitri Restaurant has won recognition from leading food critics in Scotland. In 2016, the restaurant moved to The Powfoot Hotel with seating for up to 36 guests.

This is a traditional style restaurant, with a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Sit back and enjoy a dish or two from the Scottish and European influenced menu, created using the finest local ingredients by Head Chef Martin Avey and his team. For table reservations, please call 01461 700300 or send an email. Booking for the restaurant is essential to avoid disappointment. Read our guest reviews of The Del Amitri Restaurant.

Golf breaks

The Powfoot Hotel is situated right on the Solway as we are adjacent to the 18-hole Championship Powfoot Golf Club.

Opened in 1903 with a mixture of of both links and parkland golf, the course offers a superb test of golf with its many challenging holes and, like the hotel, is set in stunning surroundings with views across the Solway Firth to the Lakeland hills of Cumbria.

The course was redesigned by the legendary James Braid in 1923 and offers excellent golfing opportunities to all, whether you’re a seasoned all-year golfer, regular member or casual green fee player.
